Lindsay Griffin Boston is turning 3!

Thursday, February 25th, 2016

Don’t forget about the celebration this Saturday of our 3 year anniversary! We are super excited to show off some new changes here in the salon and to celebrate 3 years of loving your hair! We’ll have beer and wine plus some hot and cold snacks to enjoy just to say thanks for being such awesome clients. Alex Dow, bartender extraordinaire from Brick & Mortar, will be mixing up a couple of specialty punches for us to serve and we can’t wait to try them!

We will be doing a bunch of raffles with prizes including products, hair styling tools and gift cards. But the MOST fun part of the night (other than us, of course) will be the photo booth. It’s the theme of the night and we’ll have a sequined backdrop and awesome props like a feather boa, cute signs and so much more! It’s going to be so much fun and we can’t wait to see all of you there!

Please RSVP by either visiting the event page here or emailing us at

Lindsay Griffin Boston | The importance of a consultation

Saturday, February 20th, 2016

Here at Lindsay Griffin we can’t emphasize enough the importance of a consultation with your stylist. Whether you’re a new client or a regular looking to change things up, a consultation is really valuable for making sure you get exactly what you want and what you’re expecting. We want you to feel great about your hair and love the way you look and talking with us about precisely what you want is a huge part of that! The consultation is an opportunity for you to tell your stylist about any bad past hair disasters that you want to avoid and communicate what it is that you’re hoping to achieve on your next visit. Definitely bring in pictures that show the style and color you’re hoping for and will give your stylist a good idea of how to proceed. Our stylists will even do a strand test for color before your appointment so you’ll know exactly what the end result will be! After chatting with your stylist, she’ll be able to make recommendations about different options for cuts and coloring. The consultation is free so give us a call and book with one of our awesome stylists!

Kevin Murphy’s REPAIR.ME | Lindsay Griffin

Wednesday, February 17th, 2016

Do you like coloring and heat-styling your hair? Help keep it healthy with Kevin Murphy’s REPAIR.ME system, now on the shelves here at Lindsay Griffin Boston!

REPAIR.ME is a three-part system that – you guessed it – repairs and restores brittle or damaged hair. By harnessing the power of Green Pea Protein and fruit extracts, the REPAIR.ME system does wonders to rejuvenate and protect color treated hair. Here’s how it works:

REPAIR.ME Wash is a nourishing shampoo that not only removes impurities but strengthens and increases shine as well. Papaya and Bamboo leaf extract smooth the surface and bind to the hair shaft to dramatically increase your hair’s health and shine.

REPAIR.ME Rinse uses Shea Butter, Aloe extract and Acai to nourish hair and protect from future damage by lubricating hair strands and contains vitamins that have repairing effects to promote healthier hair.

RE.STORE is a 1-2 times a week substitute for your daily wash and rinse. Pineapple extract and Green Pea Protein work together to nourish and replenish without weighing hair down.

Be sure to ask your stylist about the new REPAIR.ME system on your next visit to Lindsay Griffin Boston to help keep your hair healthy and beautiful!

Co-Washing: Should You Be Ditching Shampoo?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2015

Many people who come in to see us at Lindsay Griffin Boston are surprised to learn that several of our stylists don’t wash their hair every day, or even every other day. Some people may be a little appalled at the idea of ditching their daily or bi-daily shampoo, but depending on your hair type, it could be the way to go.

Entering co-washing. C0-washing is an abbreviated way of saying “conditioner washing,” meaning that you are washing only with a conditioner and foregoing the daily shampoo.

So what hair types benefit the most from co-washing? Generally, those with wavy or curly, thick, or dry hair will see the best results from washing with conditioner. Textured hair types tend to be dryer, because oil from the scalp are not able to travel all of the twists and turns of the hair strand like they can on straight or thin hair. However, this doesn’t mean that straight and thin hair types can’t co-wash too. It is simply recommended that they continue to shampoo every other day, or every three days, and co-wash on the days in between. Experts recommend that for those who are thinking of trying co-washing more often than not, add in a clarifying shampoo once weekly to get rid of build up that may occur on the scalp.

While co-washing can be great for those who want to stop stripping the natural oils from their hair, it is advised that those who have scalp conditions such a dermatitis should continue to use a daily shampoo, as stopping that regimen could make the condition worse.

We’ve put together a list of the conditioners that we carry, by hair type, that will help you get the benefit of co-washing:

Kevin.Murphy Luxury Rinse
Davines LOVE Curl Conditioner

Frizzy or Thick
Davines LOVE Smooth Conditioner
Kevin.Murphy Luxury Rinse

Davines Dede ConditionerKevin.Murphy Angel Rinse

Brittle/Over-Processed or Aging
Davines Nou Nou Conditioner
Kevin.Murphy Young Again Rinse [More specifically for aging, dull hair]

Color Treated
Davines Minu Conditioner

Kevin.Murphy Hydrate Me Conditioner
Davines Melu Conditioner [More specifically for long or damaged hair]
Davines Momo Conditioner

Also, the two clarifying shampoos we carry carry here at Lindsay Griffin Boston are the Kevin.Murphy Maxi Wash, and Davines Solu Shampoo, both created as a clarifying wash to get rid of buildup on the scalp and hair.

Feel free to stop by and visit us to find out if co-washing could benefit your hair, and what we recommend for you to use as a conditioner!

Four Revolutionary Hair Tools You Might Need to Try

Saturday, October 3rd, 2015

There has been a huge surge in the hair styling revolution as of late, and many of these tools and tricks are just too cool to pass up. We’ve collected the best four of these new products and lined them up here for you to check out!

1. Amika Switch Kit™ Starter Kit
Starts at $100.00

This curling iron has not only one barrel size, but FOUR interchangeable barrel options to completely customize your curling iron. The base model with a 1-inch barrel starts at $100, and each additional barrel runs at $30. This tool makes it easy to pick and choose which curling tools you need, and which you don’t, for a pretty reasonable price tag.

These phone cord shaped hair ties promise no dents in your hair post-ponytail. They come in packs of three and in a few fun colors as well.

4. The Coolway™ System

This flat iron, unlike many others on the market, only heats up to 299 degrees. The Coolway spray, paired with the low heat, allows for the low heat to style hair with less damage and better results. It was also awarded the Best of Beauty Breakthrough in 2012 by Allure Magazine, and has been making waves ever since. (But not literally. It’s a flat iron.)

MARSALA & Beauty: How PANTONE’s 2015 Color of the Year Can Be Your Color Too

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015

PANTONE has recently released their Color of the Year for 2015, and the winner is… MARSALA

Marsala_wallpaper_Pantone_Color_of_the_Year_2015-2048x1536                                                                                         Photo: PANTONE

Marsala (Pantone 18-1438) is a deep red hue that is reminiscent of the wine that inspired its name. The experts at PANTONE deem this color as a “natural fit for the kitchen and dining room,” and beauty writers at Allure Magazine call the hue “universally flattering.”

If you don’t know the history of the PANTONE Color of the Year, here’s a brief run down. PANTONE began choosing a color of the year in 2000, and has chosen a new color sequentially each year since. PANTONE’s color of that year then serves as inspiration for a number of color trends and industries: interior design, makeup and beauty, graphic design, fashion, and much more.

Here are a few beauty products in Marsala shades that are flawless for fall, and flattering for all:

Essie – “A-List
